The following National Instruments PXI Express Remote Controller currently support firmware update:

Software Requirements
Updating the firmware on your MXI Express hardware requires:
PXI Platform Services 3.2.1 (or later)
Supported Operating Systems
Windows XP (x32), Vista (x32/x64), 7 (x32/x64), or 8 (x32/x64)
LVRT 2010 SP1, LVRT 2011 SP1, LVRT 2012 SP1
Upgrade Instructions for LVRT 2010 SP1 Systems
Follow the instructions below to update your National Instruments PXI Express Remote Controller(s):
Download and save firmware image and "PXI Platform Services Firmware Updater.vi" to the host machine.
On the system, open the "PXI Platform Services Firmware Updater.vi" VI in LabVIEW.
Click the Run arrow.
Select the target system where the device to be updated is located.
localhost is the local system that is running the VI
From the drop down menu you can select a Remote Target that has been identified in MAX.
Or you can manually type in the Remote Target IP Address in the box.
Navigate to and select the firmware image file saved in step 1, click the OK button.
After a few moments, a dialog box should appear:
If the box states "X device(s) updated successfully.", power cycle the remote controller(s) by following the additional instructions in the output box.
If the box states that an issue occurred, record the error number/message and Contact National Instruments.
Click the Exit button.
Upgrade Instructions for Other Operating Systems
Follow the instructions below to update your National Instruments PXI Express Remote Controller(s):
Download and save firmware image to the system containing the remote controller(s) to be updated. If the system containing the remote controller is running LabVIEW RT, save the firmware image onto the host machine.
On the system, use Measurement & Automation Explorer to navigate to the NI Web-Based Monitoring and Configuration page.
For Windows systems: Right click My System and select Web Configuration.
For RT systems: Expand Remote Systems. Locate and right-click the target system and select Web Configuration.
Each controller must be updated separately. For each controller to be updated:
Locate and expand the chassis containing the remote controller to be updated.
Select the remote controller in the left most pane, then click the Update Firmware button in the right pane.
Navigate to and select the firmware image file saved in step 1, then click the Open button.
A dialog box should open containing information about the firmware image selected.
Confirm the version number displayed is as you expected.
If the version is as you expected, select the Begin Update button.
If the version is not as you expected, select the Cancel button and confirm the download in step 1.
After a few moments, a dialog box should appear:
If the dialog states "The firmware update completed successfully", power cycle the remote controller by following the additional instructions in the dialog box.
If the dialog states that an issue occurred, record the error number/message and Contact National Instruments.
